Depends on who they are slandering... If it is someone close like family or friends, remind them who they (the one they are slandering) are to you. Remind them of Psalms 101:5 "I will not tolerate people slandering their neighbors..." If it is someone who isn't close, you just know it is not really accurate, simply ask them if they are sure the facts are right, they might only be focusing on a tidbit of the issue. 2 Corinthians 12:20 Ephesians 4:31 Colossians 3:8 Also remind them that we are supposed to edify not put down. You can also simply tell them you don't want to hear about it. Remember what Pastor Mark said "If you aren't part of the problem or the solution, then it is gossip" Have fun with this one :), I will pray for you.
This just happened to me with someone I trusted. I just cried. I am not sure that was the Godly thing to do. It just hurt so bad I didn't know what to do.
